The Art of Sound: My New Website is Here! 🎉
For the past few months, I’ve been quietly working on something behind the scenes—something that brings together everything I love about sound, music and visual storytelling.
And today, I get to share it with you.
🚀 EmmaClarkeArt.com is officially live! 🚀
It’s more than just an online store. It’s a home for my graphic scores—visual representations of sound, music, and movement—designed for both musicians and art lovers alike.
But before I get into what’s on the site, let me tell you why I’m doing this now.
Why This? Why Now?
If you know me through my voice work, BBC Radio 3 Saturday Breakfast show, music, research or writing, you might be wondering:
"Wait, Emma, now you’re an artist too??"
Well, yes. I’ve always painted, sketched and made visual stuff - I just don’t talk about it very often. This new website is really an extension of what I’ve always done.
I find graphic scores intriguing and a bit mysterious. Anything can be a graphic score, really. The interpretation of a graphic score, and how that interpretation is communicated and how it then gets translated into sound by real live humans is a wonderful collaboration of imagination, improvisation and storytelling. I’m interested in the conceptual visualisation of music because fundamentally, I’m fascinated by how meaning can be expressed in sound. I guess that’s the basis for my entire career.
As a composer, I sense music as colour, texture and shape. It’s as if I feel the music in my body as a physical, colourful, rough/smooth object. I admit it’s weird... My senses sort of cross over each other, merging, blending and blurring at the edges a bit.
As a voice actor, my experience of sound is obviously pretty similar, with a dollop of deep emotional coding thrown into my larynx, just for good measure. And through my work, I know that not everything needs words to be understood.
So that’s why I create graphic scores—artworks that don’t just capture music, but are music. They can be performed.
And now, you can explore my art all in one place.
What’s on the Website?
I wanted this site to be more than a shop—I wanted it to feel more like a gallery, with behind-the-scenes info and insights.
Here’s what you’ll find on EmmaClarkeArt.com:
🎵 Graphic Score Art Prints – High-quality, limited edition prints, from bold, abstract works to delicate hand-drawn pieces. Perfect for music lovers, composers, or anyone who loves intriguing art.
🖤 Monochrome & Colour Collections – Some pieces are stark and minimal, while others burst with energy and movement.
🎶 Playable Scores for Musicians – If you’re a performer or composer, I’d love to see how you interpret these.
🖌️ Behind-the-Scenes Process – I’ll be sharing insights into how these works are made, from hand-drawn sketches to digital compositions.
🎭 Experimental & 3D Works (Coming Soon!) – I’m working on 3D graphic scores that can be played, touched, and even rolled in ink across a canvas. Yes, really.
This is just the start.
How You Can Get Involved
🔹 For Art Lovers – If you love music, culture, and visual storytelling, I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
🔹 For Musicians & Composers – These scores are made to be performed, and I’d love to hear what they sound like in your hands.

This is Just the Beginning
This launch is a big moment for me, but it’s only the start.
I have so many ideas for where this could go—live performances, (I’d love to set up a music collective), interactive exhibitions, new collaborations. But for now, I’m just excited to finally put this work out into the world.
Thanks so much for supporting this weird and wonderful journey. And most of all, thanks for reading…and listening.
🔜 Next time, I’ll be explaining in more detail what a graphic score is, and how these pieces can be interpreted. And in a couple of weeks, I’ll be looking at how I’m using mathematics and 3D geometry to create new work. If all this floats your boat, subscribe so you don’t miss anything!
Thanks so much for reading (and listening!)
