1. My local café
I recorded this face-deep in a Super Green spinach smoothie. Yum!
In this clip there’s a coffee machine, the chinking of glasses and cutlery, and people laughing and talking. But my favourite part of this audio is the laid-back muzak.
This, incidentally, was my lunch.
2. My local village
The village might sound peaceful but trust me, it’s in utter turmoil.
We’re getting a new Sainsbury’s Local so the little one in the village square is closing. People don’t know how they’re going to adjust.
In this clip, villagers are sitting outside the coffee shop, chatting. There’s a bleeping pedestrian crossing, cars, a cyclist, a plane, birds, footsteps, someone rustling a shopping bag and a small child. Can you hear it all?
3. My utility room
This is me, putting the washing on. If you listen carefully, you can hear 80s hit China In Your Hand playing on the radio in the kitchen. In case you’re interested, I was washing towels on a dark wash, using a Lakeland Eco Egg. (They were dark towels).
4. Stockport train station
Stockport is a thriving metropolis with extensive transport links. London is only two hours away! Stockport was recently voted the best place to live in Manchester. However, I came to the train station to get away from Stockport for a while.
5. My desk
I update my answerphone message every day. If you listen hard, you’ll hear my smoke alarm beeping because the battery needed changing.
Let me know what sounds are landmarks in your life. I’d love to hear from you.
