But don’t worry - Spring IS coming!

I hope January’s been kind to you. It’s hard, isn’t it? Pulling yourself out of ‘Christmas holiday mode’ and into the new year? Getting revved up and energised in the depths of winter can be exhausting, which is kind of ironic.

Anyway. On to the fun stuff.

Have a listen to this episode of my pop-up podcast.

This is basically where I just chat to you about something that’s occurring to me on that particular day. In this one, I ask you a massive question: “What do you want?” It’s all very informal and lo-fi.

Stuff I’ve enjoyed this month.

1. Reading: this book is amazing!

The Expectation Effect is a journey through the cutting-edge science of how our mindset shapes every facet of our lives, revealing how your brain holds the keys to unlocking a better you.

Every page is full of incredible revelations about how we prescribe our own opportunities and limitations. Check it out here

2. Listening: trust me, this is beautiful.

It’s the musical representation of a murmuration of sparrows and it’s STUNNING. Treat yourself to 7’ 43” of calm and have a listen.

3. Voicing.

I recorded a bunch of very daft stuff for the BBC’s Newscast podcast. Read about it here.

4. Composing.

This is a Sibelius rendering of a piece of music I wrote for the Britten Sinfonia. It’s called ‘Tiny Blue Marble’ and is about the climate crisis. Originally I wrote it for a trio, but here it is for a Sinfonietta orchestra.

As promised, here’s a photo of my dog (giving me the side-eye).

Just look at that attitude.

That’s it for this month!
